Born in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Writer, poet but first and foremost an artist of everything.

Contrary to most artists, Risja did not start her carreer as an artist at the art academy, but in bed in a tiny town in Limburg, the Netherlands, where she fought for her life and made collages out of old family photographs. Exploring themes such as group culture, identity and the mere awkwardness of human life.

With her newfound health , Risja is exploring new and bigger ways to express herself, combining her artwork with music and poetry for a clash of the senses. She is currently living in Brazil, where is developing a series of textile-installations in her studio at Despina | Largo das Artes.
