Anna Costa e Silva

Lives and works in Rio de Janeiro. Owner of an MFA in Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts, NY and a BFA in Film from UGF-BR, her work happens in the intersections between visual arts, performance, film and relational practices. Winner of the FOCO ArtRio Bradesco Award (2014), Funarte Grant for Visual Arts (2015) and American Austrian Award for Fine Arts (2012).

Anna has done the solo shows “Asymptotes”, Caixa Cultural and EMCB space, RJ, “Eter”, Phosphorus, SP, “Self Portrait”, C Gallery, RJ, “I offer company”, Superfície Gallery, SP, and “I, who am waiting”, casamata, RJ,  and participated in group shows such as “What comes with dawn”, Casa Triângulo, SP, “Abre Alas 13” and “Xanadona”, A Gentil Carioca, RJ, “I Moving Image Exhibition Parque Lage”, Casa França Brasil, RJ, “Encruzilhada”, Parque Lage, RJ, “Group Velocity”, Interstate Projects Gallery, NY. Was an artist in residency at Phosphorus, SP, Salzburg Academy of Fine Arts, Salzburg, and The School of Making Thinking, NY.

Started her trajectory directing short films, such as “Voices” (2009), shown in more than 30 festivals in countries such as France, Portugal, United States, Australia and Bulgaria, and winner of awards such as Best Experimental Film – Amazônia Film Festival and Accolade Award of Excellence, Los Angeles. Worked as an assistant director for 9 feature films and directed the TV documentary series “Olhar”, about Brazilian contemporary art for Arte1 channel.
