The FOCO Bradesco/ArtRio Award, now in its fourth year, aims to encourage and promote emerging Brazilian artists (active as artists for 15 years or less). Again this year, three artists will be selected to participate in a residency and exhibition at three well-reputed institutions
In Rio de Janeiro, the partner institution is once again Despina | Largo das Artes, which will offer to one of the three awarded an artist residency lasting 6 weeks. Contemplated in the second edition of the award in 2014, artist Ricardo Càstro attended a residence in our space in April 2015. The winners will also display their works in an exhibition in a special stand during ArtRio 2016.
To participate, the artist must have a portfolio of 20 works developed in any type of visual arts platform. The application form includes a curriculum, one expographic proposal to the stand at the fair and the description of the content and design of the proposed research to the residence. The selection of projects is the sole responsibility of the Curatorial Committee (formed by the heads of the residency programmes) and curator and art critic Bernardo Mosqueira, director of FOCO Bradesco/ArtRio Award.
